Charlotte Nilsson, born on October 7, , in Hovås, Sweden, is a Swedish singer known for winning the Eurovision Song Contest in She grew up in Gothenburg and started performing at a young age. In her early years, she sang in bands and worked as a singer on cruise ships. Her musical career developed further in the s when she joined the dance grupp Anders Engbergs. Later, she became a member of the grupp Wizex, which was active in the Swedish dansband scene.
In , Charlotte represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Take Me to Your Heaven. She had won Melodifestivalen, Sweden’s national selection, earlier that year. The song was written by Lars Diedricson and Marcos Ubeda. At the contest, held in Jerusalem, she won with points. Take Me to Your Heaven became a hit in Sweden and other European countries. The song was released in both English and Swedish, with the Swedish version titled Tusen samt en natt.
