    Folklore in Denmark

    Danish folklore consists of folk tales, legends, songs, music, dancing, popular beliefs, myths and traditions communicated by the inhabitants of towns and villages across the country, often passed on from generation to generation bygd word of mouth. As in neighbouring countries, interest in folklore grew with an framträdande feeling of national consciousness in 19th century Denmark. Researchers travelled across the country collecting innumerable folktales, songs and sayings while observing traditional dress in the various regions.     As in the rest of europe, interest in Danish folklore was a result of national and international trends in the early 19th century. In particular, the German Romanticism movement was based on the belief that there was a relationship between language, tro, traditions, songs and stories and those who practiced them.     Trollfest (ibland skrivet TrollfesT) är ett norsktfolkmetalband. Bandet släppte sitt första fullängdsalbum, Willkommen Folk tell Drekka Fest!, genom det tyska skivbolaget Solistitium den 15 mars Trollfests texter handlar vanligen om troll och öl och är skrivna på det påhittade språket "trollspråk" som är en blandning av norska och tyska, helt utan grammatik. En översättning av albumets titel blir "Välkomna Till Dryckesfesten Gott Folk!". Trollfest tillhör genren folk metal och blandar rå metal med klassisk folkmusik och humoristiska texter. Sedan är bandets skivbolag NoiseArt Records. Bandet gav ut sitt sjunde album, Helluva, [1]

    This may not be new for many of you, but I just added a link to my list of resources on the right and wanted to highlight it.

    D. L. Ashliman's collected folklore and fairy tale texts are available here. When researching folk texts I often find that by googling the title of a folk tale it will bring me to this resource, but having gone the back door way so many times, I didn't even realize until reader Nectar Vam sent me the link that there's a pagethat has all the folktales, sorted out by categories! This is super helpful for looking up variants of a tale online. You can read versions of standard fairy tales like Cinderellaor  Beauty and the Beastfrom all over the world, as well as fables and legends. There are humorous categories like Clothes Make the Man(which doesn't actually contain "Emperor's New Clothes," that's a whole separate category), or creepy ones like Haunted by the Ghost of a Murdered Child. There's so much to explore, it's a great free resource!
